Mastering the multi-barrier approach
Anyone who reuses water combines technologies – and needs components that play their part.
Industrial or agricultural waste water contains a wide range of harmful substances – from PFAS and microplastics, through to aggressive chemicals or pharmaceutical residues.
With the right components in your water treatment plant, water reuse becomes a competitive advantage.
Whether biological pre-cleaning, membrane filtration, oxidative processes or chemical disinfection: The multi-barrier approach requires customised systems – and a partner who is familiar with each stage. GEMÜ supplies valves, measurement and control systems that can be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of water treatment concepts.

Challenges when reusing municipal and industrial waste water
Find out what technological, regulatory and economic hurdles exist in water reuse – and how a sophisticated multi-barrier approach can overcome them.
GEMÜ components for every stage in the water reuse process
From raw waste water through to pure water discharge – our valve and automation technology is designed to meet the demanding conditions of a wide variety of types of waste water. Whether saline, corrosive, particle-laden or ultra-pure: GEMÜ products comply with the most stringent requirements in terms of material resistance, controllability and connectivity.

When simplicity and robustness are important – butterfly valves and ball valves can be used universally in all water treatment steps
Ball valves and butterfly valves are widely used in water treatment due to their simple design and reliability. They offer fast on/off control and are ideal for applications where full flow or full isolation is required.
Various manual, pneumatic or motorized operator types are available for all GEMÜ valves. The GEMÜ modular system also allows for any combination of body and seal materials.

Made for critical media – diaphragm valves are used when corrosion and abrasion become a challenge
Diaphragm valves are particularly useful in applications where reliable flow control is required. They are also very suitable for handling corrosive or abrasive liquids. This is important in the treatment of highly aggressive waste water. GEMÜ offers metal and plastic diaphragm valves. If a high flow is required, full bore diaphragm valves are also available.

When precision and dynamics are required – globe valves with short or long stroke for finely dosed flow control and high cycle rates
Globe valves and solenoid valves are used in areas that require precise flow control and high cycle duties. They are used in non-particulate water or for mixing functions with chemicals since they the are susceptible to contamination. Solenoid valves are particularly suitable for handling small volumes of these.
